I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself because before this becomes a community, it’s just me opening the door and saying, come on in.

My name is Laura, and I’m the heart behind Southern Hearted.

By trade, I’m a wedding planner and designer. For years, I’ve had the joy of helping couples create meaningful, beautiful celebrations spaces where people gather, connect, and make memories that last a lifetime. It’s work I truly love, because at the center of it all is something I care deeply about, bringing people together.

But life has a way of shifting our focus in the sweetest ways.

These days, I’m also homeschooling my grandson, which has been one of the most unexpected and meaningful chapters of my life. Our days are a mix of learning, laughter, patience, and grace and a whole lot of real life in between.

And somewhere woven into all of that is my love for Southern roots.

I wasn’t raised in the South, but I was raised in a Southern family, and that influence runs deep. It shows up in my kitchen, in the way I gather people, in my love for comfort food, storytelling, and making a house feel like home.

Southern Hearted is where all of those pieces come together. I am mostly starting this journey as a place for me to compose recipes, writing, art, places, and things I love. If others join in and a community is created, that will be wonderful. My purpose was to create a place online that I could enjoy without any pressure to make it anything I don't want.

It’s not just about recipes (though there will be plenty of those 😊).It’s about connection.It’s about sharing what we’re learning.It’s about creating a space where women can show up as they are and feel welcomed.

You’ll find a little bit of everything here—food, faith, home life, reflections, and the everyday moments that shape us.

I don’t have it all perfectly put together… and honestly, I don’t think that’s the point.

My hope is that this becomes a place where we can gather, grow, and encourage one another along the way.
